How We Scaled to 10,000 Users Without a Sales Team
A behind-the-scenes look at the product-led growth strategy that took us from launch to 10k users in under a year.
Growth

The Bet We Made Early
When we launched, we made a deliberate choice: no outbound sales, no cold emails, no SDRs. We would grow entirely through the product. Twelve months and 10,000 users later, here's what we learned.
Product-Led Growth Isn't Magic — It's a System
PLG only works if your product can sell itself. That means three things:
Fast time-to-value — users need to experience the core benefit before they're asked for a credit card
Built-in virality — sharing, inviting teammates, or publishing something should be natural parts of the workflow
A freemium layer that converts — free users aren't a cost center if you design the upgrade moment carefully
What We Actually Did
We launched with a generous free tier and focused obsessively on activation. Every week, we looked at where users dropped off and fixed the worst bottleneck. It sounds simple because it is — but most teams skip this work.
We also leaned hard on content. Every feature launch came with a blog post, a short video, and a template people could copy in one click. That compounding content drove a consistent stream of signups from search.
The Inflection Point
Month seven is when things clicked. We added team invites directly into the core workflow — not as a separate 'invite your colleagues' screen, but as a natural part of getting work done. Signups from referrals jumped 40% in 30 days.
What We'd Do Differently
We'd invest in in-app guidance earlier. We assumed users would figure things out. They didn't — at least not fast enough. Better onboarding would have improved our month-one retention significantly.
